Finally
Best Skybox alternative on Meta Quest?
Finally VR Video Player, if the reason you opened Skybox was “play the folder on my NAS.” Free. Native OpenXR. No Finally account. No telemetry. Guided SMB, VR180/360/fisheye, per-title overrides that stick, passthrough chroma. Skybox still wins if you bought it for virtual living rooms and cloud movie night. Full head-to-head: Finally vs Skybox.
A useful comparison starts with the source you use most. Try a familiar local video and a shared folder, then check projection settings, environment choices and the steps needed to resume playback. Finally provides a free native OpenXR option for that comparison.
If the room is the product.
Check the current SKYBOX listing for environment and shared-viewing options. Finally’s Watch Together uses two headsets on the same LAN with matching local files and no additional Finally account. Compare the workflow that matches how you watch.
If the library is the product.
Install Finally beside Skybox. Point it at the same share. If the picture is right and the vault feels like yours, you already have the alternative. Also see 4XVR alternative and NAS setup.
